Gallatin AI Opens Austin Office to Support Army Logistics

Defense logistics software company Gallatin AI has opened a new engineering and delivery hub in Austin, Texas. The location was chosen for its proximity to Fort Hood and U.S. Army sustainment commands. The company plans to hire for software engineering, AI/ML, and delivery roles to better support its military customers.

Gallatin AI's founding team includes CEO Woody Glier, an alumnus of Scale AI and Palantir; CTO Daniel Buchmueller, a co-founder of Amazon Prime Air; and CPO Brian Ballard, who has a decade of experience with the Department of Defense. The company emerged from stealth in April 2025 with $15 million in seed funding led by 8VC, with participation from Silent Ventures, Moonshots Capital, and others. The company’s flagship product, Navigator, is an AI-powered decision support platform designed to overhaul military logistics, moving processes away from spreadsheets and whiteboards. The system is built on Palantir Foundry, allowing it to integrate with existing DoD data platforms like Maven and Vantage. It uses predictive analytics to forecast resupply needs, optimize schedules, and simulate complex logistics scenarios to identify potential bottlenecks before they occur. In September 2025, Gallatin was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the Air Force to explore the use of generative AI for accelerating logistics decision-making, particularly for humanitarian and disaster relief operations. This involves using AI to improve the precision of supply demand forecasting and to generate courses of action for complex resupply missions. The company’s platform is designed to ingest data from various sources, including LOGSTAT and JBC-P messages, to create a unified view of supply levels. The move to Austin places Gallatin in direct proximity to Army Futures Command (AFC), which is leading the Army's modernization efforts. A key priority for AFC is preparing for future conflicts where logistics will be heavily contested, requiring data-centric and resilient supply chains. The Austin tech ecosystem has become a major hub for defense innovation, with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and other joint innovation workspaces located at Capital Factory, fostering collaboration between startups and the Pentagon.
