Federal filings show the Republican National Committee ended February 2026 with $109.3 million in cash, while the Democratic National Committee reported $15.9 million in cash and $17.4 million in debts. (fec.gov 1) (fec.gov 2) That means the RNC held about $93.4 million more cash than the DNC at the close of the month, based on reports both committees filed on March 20, 2026. The DNC was not literally at negative cash; the negative figure circulating online comes from subtracting its debts from its cash balance. (fec.gov 1) (fec.gov 2) The RNC took in $18.5 million in February and spent $11.1 million, according to its March monthly filing. The DNC raised $10.3 million and spent $9.7 million in the same period. (fec.gov 1) (fec.gov 2) National party committees use this money for staff, data systems, voter-contact programs, legal work and transfers across the party network. The Federal Election Commission lists those committees as monthly filers, so these balances update through regular reports rather than quarterly snapshots. (fec.gov) (fec.gov) The DNC’s debt load traces in part to a $15 million loan disclosed in late 2025. Politico reported in November that borrowing at that scale so far from a general election was unusual for a major national party committee. (politico.com) (fec.gov) Politico reported after the March filings that the DNC was still carrying more than $17 million in debt and that the RNC had $109.3 million in the bank. The same filing data show the RNC had no debts owed by the committee at the end of February. (politico.com) (fec.gov) Over the full 2025-26 cycle through Feb. 28, the RNC reported $207.2 million in receipts and $135.9 million in disbursements. The DNC reported $166.7 million in receipts and $172.9 million in disbursements over the same span. (fec.gov) (fec.gov) The next monthly filings will show whether February was a one-month gap or part of a longer pattern. For now, the official reports put the RNC far ahead on cash and the DNC still carrying debt into the 2026 cycle. (fec.gov) (fec.gov) (fec.gov)
