Fremont’s monthlong arts celebration is set to close with a new public market on Sunday, April 26, at the Downtown Event Center. (tricityvoice.com) The Artists’ Pop-Up Market is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fremont Downtown Event Center and Plaza, 3500 Capitol Ave., with local artists selling work directly to visitors. (fremont.gov) Tri-City Voice reported more than 20 local artists are expected to take part, and the event will also include live jazz and an outdoor performance by Wadaiko Newark taiko drummers. (tricityvoice.com) The market is part of April Is Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, a citywide push that Fremont Creates organizes each spring through performances, workshops and public art events. (fremontcreates.com) Fremont Creates says the pop-up market is new this year, adding a sales-focused event to the closing weekend after the program expanded in recent years with a free Downtown Event Center finale. (fremontcreates.com, tricityvoice.com) The April 26 program is broader than a vendor fair: Fremont Creates says the Makerspace for kids of all ages will run during the same hours, and two hands-on workshops are planned for adults 15 and older. (fremontcreates.com, tricityvoice.com) For artists, the event doubles as a local selling opportunity. Fremont Creates’ registration page required a $50 deposit, which it said would be returned after the event if participation requirements were met. (fremontcreates.com) The market lands on the second day of a Downtown Event Center arts weekend. The City of Fremont is also hosting a free “Downtown Dance” event there on Saturday, April 25, according to Tri-City Voice. (tricityvoice.com) If the plan holds, the month that started with installations and workshops across Fremont will end with artists selling face-to-face in the city’s downtown civic venue.
