City Cuts Arsenal Lead to Two Points

Manchester City beat Leeds 1-0 to close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to just two points. January signing Antoine Semenyo scored the decisive first-half goal, taking some goalscoring pressure off Erling Haaland. The title race is now wide open with City mounting their challenge.

The victory was secured without the league's top scorer, Erling Haaland, who was ruled out due to a minor injury sustained in training. The Norwegian striker has already scored 22 goals in 27 Premier League appearances this season. Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in the January transfer window for a reported fee of around £65 million ($87m), has now scored six goals for the club. His goal against Leeds came in the first-half stoppage time. This crucial win marks Manchester City's fourth consecutive league victory, continuing their strong push for the title. The result leaves them on 59 points, just two behind Arsenal's 61, with both teams having played 28 games. The pressure now mounts on Arsenal, who face a London derby against Chelsea in their next fixture. With 10 games remaining for both sides, the title race is poised for a dramatic conclusion. A potential title-deciding showdown between the two clubs is scheduled for April 18 at the Etihad Stadium. The reverse fixture at the Emirates earlier in the season ended in a 1-1 draw.
