On-Chain Perpetuals Exchange Launches on Aptos

Decibel was incubated by Aptos Labs, positioning it as a core piece of infrastructure for the Layer 1's financial ecosystem. The exchange’s architecture is fully on-chain, meaning the central limit order book, matching engine, settlement, and risk management all operate as transparent smart contracts, not opaque off-chain systems. The protocol's risk engine and liquidation backstop, known as the Decibel Liquidity Pool (DLP), had its parameters developed in collaboration with on-chain risk management firm Gauntlet. For its oracle infrastructure, Decibel is using Chainlink to provide low-latency price feeds for the platform's pricing and liquidation mechanisms, a critical component for derivatives safety. As default collateral, Decibel utilizes usDCBL, a dollar-denominated stablecoin issued by Bridge, a company owned by Stripe. This structure aims to keep the economic value generated by the stablecoin's reserves within the protocol itself, rather than it flowing to external stablecoin issuers. The mainnet launch was preceded by a pre-deposit campaign that attracted over $58 million in committed capital. Notably, approximately 40-50% of these deposits originated from users on Ethereum and Solana, highlighting significant cross-chain interest in the new venue. The Decibel Foundation has a roadmap to expand beyond perpetuals into spot markets and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Future plans also include a unified account system with multi-collateral support, aiming to increase capital efficiency for traders.
