New Businesses to Open in League City
The city of League City is seeing continued business expansion with several new openings planned. Hotworx, an infrared sauna workout studio, will open its second local location by the end of 2026. Additionally, the Papa's Pizza chain is preparing to open a new restaurant in the area.
The business growth in League City is part of a wider trend that includes major new residential and commercial projects. Houston-based developer Hines is developing a 1,500-acre master-planned community with 2,730 homes. This signals a long-term strategy to increase the residential population that will support incoming retail and service businesses. A significant mixed-use development, Lilac Field, is underway at the intersection of SH 96 and Isla Vista Drive. This 24.5-acre project by Alexander Grene Development will feature 300,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and flexible warehouse space, creating a new commercial hub on the city's east side. The first phase is expected to include 20,000 square feet of retail and 30,000 square feet of warehouse space. The new Papa's Pizza, located at 248 S Egret Bay Blvd, is an expansion for the Galveston-based Smecca family, who have been in the restaurant business for over 50 years. The project involves a complete build-out of a 2,085-square-foot space in a high-traffic area, representing a significant investment by the Galveston Restaurant Group. The upcoming Hotworx in Tuscan Lakes at 2125 E League City Parkway, Suite 600, will be the second location in the city, joining the studio in Magnolia Creek. This expansion reflects the franchise's rapid growth model, which has seen it open over 800 locations worldwide by leveraging 24/7 access and infrared sauna workout technology. This commercial activity is happening alongside a series of other recent and upcoming openings in League City. Residents have seen or will soon see the arrival of Bojangles, Chipotle, Whataburger, and Jeremiah's Italian Ice. This influx of national and regional brands points to the city's strong retail and dining market. The city's economic landscape is diverse, with major employment sectors in healthcare, manufacturing, and education. This diverse economic base, coupled with a growing population and a recently recognized status as a U.S. Career Hotspot, creates a strong foundation for new businesses to thrive.
