Revizto Earns UK Defence Security Accreditation

Revizto, a collaboration platform for the construction and engineering sectors, announced it has received the "Secure by Design" accreditation from the UK's Ministry of Defence. The certification validates the platform's data security protocols for use in sensitive government and infrastructure projects.

- The "Secure by Design" (SbD) framework is a mandatory overhaul of the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) approach to cyber risk, replacing the previous point-in-time "accreditation" system with a model of continuous assessment. - This policy shift was driven by a 2020 internal audit which concluded the MOD's existing security risk management was "increasingly unsuitable for modern threats," prompting the move away from legacy security checks. - The accreditation was granted by the UK's Defence Infrastructure Organization (DIO) and validates Revizto's platform for handling data classified up to "Official-sensitive". - Achieving this standard is a critical prerequisite for technology partners to be considered for large-scale government projects and critical national infrastructure contracts involving the MOD or DIO. - The MOD's SbD policy applies to the entire lifecycle of information-based capabilities, including not just IT networks but also operational technology (OT), platforms, and complex weapons systems. - This certification adds to Revizto's existing security credentials, which include SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and the UK government-backed Cyber Essentials. - The "Secure by Design" approach requires that security is integrated from the very beginning of the development lifecycle, which is considered more cost-effective than addressing vulnerabilities after a system is deployed.
