Kaiterra, a Swiss-based company, produces air quality monitors for commercial, industrial, and residential use, aiming to improve understanding and reduction of air pollution. Their monitors are designed for WELL certification and compliance with LEED, Fitwel, RESET, and UL Healthy Buildings standards. Home Assistant's integration with Kaiterra allows users to view readings from Kaiterra's Laser Egg and Sensedge devices via the Kaiterra REST API. To enable this, users need to obtain an API key from the Kaiterra dashboard and configure Home Assistant with the device ID and API key. Kaiterra monitors track parameters like PM2.5, PM10, VOCs, CO2, temperature, and humidity. Real-time air quality data can be integrated into Building Automation Systems (BAS) using BACnet/IP or Modbus for automation and control. Home Assistant uses an Air quality integration that allows other integrations to process information about air quality and pollution details. This integration is a building block that provides entities, services, and other functionality that you can use in your automations or dashboards. Home Assistant has been adding and improving integrations, with the goal of local control and privacy. Matter now supports carbon monoxide alarm states and TVOC air quality level sensors. Home Assistant also supports AI-powered summaries of air quality data, providing plain language updates. Users can set up automations to receive notifications if air quality drops below a certain level.
