TECNO to Unveil AI-Powered Smartphone Line
The smartphone brand TECNO is set to unveil its new flagship CAMON 50 Series at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The launch will focus on a new family of AI-powered imaging and AI-integrated products, signaling a deeper push into artificial intelligence for the company.
This move into a fully AI-integrated product line is a significant step for TECNO, a key brand under parent company Transsion Holdings. Transsion is a dominant force in emerging markets, holding over 40% of the smartphone market share in Africa in 2024 and ranking as the fourth largest global smartphone vendor by shipments. TECNO has been heavily investing in AI for imaging, recently unveiling its TECNO Image Matrix (TIM), an AI "brain" for optimizing photo processing. This system is built upon four specialized AI engines: AI RAW for low-light scenes, AI SNAP for fast capture, AIGC Studio for image generation, and AI Universal Tone for enhancing skin tones. To further bolster its imaging capabilities, TECNO partnered with imaging authority DxOMark in September 2025 to launch the world's first fully automated AI imaging lab. This facility uses robotic systems and AI-controlled environments to conduct smartphone camera testing without human intervention, aiming for more precise and objective results. The MWC Barcelona event has become a regular stage for TECNO's major announcements. The company made its MWC debut in 2023, where it launched its first foldable smartphone, the PHANTOM V Fold. At MWC 2025, it showcased the CAMON 40 series, which also heavily featured AI imaging technology. Alongside the CAMON 50, TECNO is also expected to display future concepts and its broader connected ecosystem, including an upgraded OneLeap platform for cross-device connectivity between phones, computers, and tablets. The company has also recently teased modular smartphone concepts, named Atom and Moda, indicating further hardware innovation is on its roadmap.
