Tesla adds location reminders
Tesla’s v2026.14.1 Spring Update introduced location‑based reminders that tie alerts to where drivers are, and it integrates with voice trigger “Hey Grok.” The feature shows how consumer vehicles are surfacing geolocation cues as part of everyday UX rather than as a separate app. (x.com)
Tesla has started rolling out a feature that lets drivers set reminders tied to a place, not just a time, through the company’s 2026.14.1 Spring Update. (notateslaapp.com) The release notes say drivers can use the “Hey Grok” wake phrase and ask for prompts such as “remind me to pick up milk when I’m near home.” Tesla lists the feature inside the Grok section of the update. (notateslaapp.com) Tesla’s support page says Grok is an xAI-built in-car assistant that works hands-free and can already handle navigation commands without using the touchscreen. Tesla also says Grok is still in Beta. (tesla.com) Tesla says Grok requires an AMD processor, a supported vehicle — Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y or Cybertruck — software version 2025.26 or later, and either Premium Connectivity or Wi‑Fi. Tesla says all new vehicles delivered on or after July 12, 2025 have Grok available. (tesla.com) The 2026.14 line is Tesla’s Spring 2026 software release, and Tesla distributes these features over the air instead of through a separate app store download. Tesla’s software update page says owners install updates from the vehicle’s Software tab. (tesla.com) Tesla had already been moving Grok beyond simple chat before this release. Not a Tesla App’s update history shows Tesla added “Grok with Navigation Commands (Beta)” in version 2026.2.6, months before the new wake word and reminder tools appeared in 2026.14. (notateslaapp.com) That sequence puts reminders inside the car’s main interface rather than in a phone app that drivers have to check later. In Tesla’s current setup, the same assistant that answers questions and starts navigation can now also attach a note to a destination area. (tesla.com) (notateslaapp.com) Tesla first brought Grok to vehicles in 2025, and reporting at the time showed the company was preparing a voice wake phrase after the initial launch. The “Hey Grok” command that now ships in 2026.14 closes that loop. (notateslaapp.com 1) (notateslaapp.com 2) For Tesla owners, the change is small on screen but specific in use: a spoken note can now wait for the car to reach a familiar place, then surface at the moment the driver gets there.
