Thunder Complete Perfect Road Trip
The Oklahoma City Thunder ended their East Coast swing 3-0, defeating the New York Knicks behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's leadership. The run highlighted rookie Jared McCain's growing role and Chet Holmgren's two-way impact as OKC continues pushing for a top Western Conference seed.
The Thunder's perfect 3-0 road trip began with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks and continued with a 116-108 win against the Chicago Bulls, a game they won without the services of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who was resting. This sweep extended their overall winning streak to four games. Against the Knicks, Chet Holmgren was a dominant force, scoring 28 points and grabbing eight rebounds. He tied his career high with six three-pointers, all of which came in the first half. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 26 points and eight assists in the 103-100 victory. Rookie guard Jared McCain provided a significant spark off the bench during the road trip. He scored 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting against the Bulls, including four three-pointers. Over the three games, McCain averaged 15.0 points per contest. The successful road trip solidified the Thunder's position at the top of the Western Conference standings with a 48-15 record. They currently hold the best record in the entire NBA. OKC now returns home for a challenging stretch of games that will be crucial in their fight for the top seed. They are set to face the Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
