HKWALLS turns the city
Hong Kong’s HKWALLS festival is transforming the Central & Western District into an open‑air gallery through March 29 — murals, interactive installations, roaming performances by 20+ artists from 14 countries, and art‑wrapped cargo trucks as mobile exhibits are on the streets right now (x.com). Photographers and street‑art hunters: this is a mobile, photo‑heavy program built to be framed in the city, not just inside galleries (x.com).
HKWALLS is running its 11th edition from March 21–29, 2026 with PMQ (Central) designated as the festival hub for live painting, workshops and artist meet‑ups. (hkwalls.org) The festival’s “Art on the Move” converts six cargo trucks into rolling exhibitions with immersive interiors visitors can step inside, produced in partnership with logistics platform GoGoX. (hkwalls.org) Featured muralists this year include Italy’s Fabio Petani, Indonesia’s Hardthirteen, Hong Kong illustrator Enoch Wong, and Irish performance artist Asbestos, who will stage a roaming three‑metre character called BORN. (timeout.com) A citywide digital strand projects animated works on the Sino LuminArt façades at Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre (March 21–April 21), while selected pieces also run on Kai Tak Mall’s giant LED screens from March 20–29. (timeout.com) The programme also includes an opening night at PMQ presented by Kronenbourg 1664, an Art Battle, daily guided mural tours and hands‑on workshops across the nine‑day run.
