1965 Mustang K-Code Fastback for Sale

The K-code Mustangs were the highest performance Mustangs Ford offered at the time, equipped with a 271-horsepower 289 cubic-inch V8 engine. This high-performance engine included upgraded pistons, connecting rods, carburetors, and cylinder heads. The "K" in K-code refers to the engine code on the vehicle identification number (VIN). The K-code option was expensive, resulting in low production numbers; less than 1% of Mustangs from 1965 to 1967 had this high-performance engine. In 1965, Ford produced 559,451 Mustangs, but only 7,273 had the K-code. These Mustangs came exclusively with a four-speed manual transmission. The fastback body style accounted for approximately 9% of the 1965-66 Mustang production.
