Connor McDavid finished the 2025-26 regular season as the National Hockey League’s scoring leader, clinching his sixth Art Ross Trophy. (nhl.com) The Art Ross goes to the player with the most regular-season points, a total of goals plus assists. McDavid ended with 138 points in 81 games, including 48 goals and 90 assists, according to the league and the Oilers. (nhl.com 1) (nhl.com 2) He beat Tampa Bay Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov, who finished with 128 points in 74 games. Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon led the league in goals with 53, but finished behind McDavid in points. (nhl.com 1) (nhl.com 2) This one adds to a run that already put McDavid near the top of the league’s scoring history. Wayne Gretzky won the Art Ross 10 times, and Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux and McDavid now share second place with six each. (nhl.com) The timing matters because the regular season ended on April 16 and the Stanley Cup Playoffs open Saturday. Edmonton enters the postseason after last year’s trip to the Stanley Cup Final, with McDavid carrying another scoring title into Round 1. (nhl.com 1) (nhl.com 2) McDavid’s season was not just about the raw total. NHL Public Relations said he was in on 48.9 percent of Edmonton’s 282 goals, the highest share in the league, and he reached 100 points for the sixth straight season and the ninth time overall. (nhl.com) His official player page lists five previous Art Ross wins before this season: 2016-17, 2017-18, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. Last season’s scoring race went to Kucherov, who won the 2024-25 Art Ross with 121 points. McDavid starts that series with another scoring crown and a place beside Howe and Lemieux on the Art Ross list. (nhl.com) (nhl.com)
