Gran Turismo 7 has added the Yangwang U9 ’24 to Sport Mode with a new Online Time Trial that runs through May 7. (blog.playstation.com) Sony Interactive Entertainment said Update 1.69 went live on April 22, adding three cars, including the Yangwang U9 ’24, and opening the latest round of 2026 competition around the game. (blog.playstation.com, gran-turismo.com) The time trial uses Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya’s Grand Prix layout without the chicane, and the event opened on April 23 for the usual two-week window that ends on May 7. (dg-edge.com) In Gran Turismo 7, an Online Time Trial is a leaderboard event: players run solo laps under fixed rules and chase a faster time rather than race door-to-door. Sport Mode groups those events alongside the game’s ranked online competition. (gran-turismo.com, gran-turismo.com) The car itself is part of a broader shift in Gran Turismo’s garage. Polyphony Digital’s April update paired a 1993 Renault Twingo and a 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau with a current Chinese electric supercar from BYD’s Yangwang brand. (blog.playstation.com) Sony described the in-game U9 as a 1,286-brake-horsepower machine with 0-62.1 miles per hour acceleration in 2.36 seconds. BYD says the road car uses four electric motors and produces more than 1,300 metric horsepower, or PS, with a tested top speed of 309.19 kilometers per hour. (blog.playstation.com, yangwangauto.com) BYD introduced the U9 under its Yangwang premium brand in early 2023, and the company later launched the production model at a price of 1.68 million yuan. BYD said deliveries would begin in the summer of 2024. (byd.com, bydglobal.com) The addition also puts a Chinese-built electric halo car into one of racing games’ most established car lists. Yangwang said last year that the U9 would be the first Chinese hypercar to appear in Gran Turismo. (youtube.com, blog.playstation.com) For players, the near-term deadline is simple: set a lap before May 7, then see where a 1,300-PS electric supercar lands on the global board.
