Anyma was added back into Coachella’s first weekend on Sunday, closing the Do Lab with Marlon Hoffstadt after his Friday set was canceled. (variety.com) The replacement set was scheduled for 10:45 p.m. Pacific time on Sunday, April 12, as a back-to-back performance with Hoffstadt at the Do Lab stage. The Do Lab announced it on Instagram with the line, “Let’s end at the beginning.” (variety.com) Anyma had been booked to play the main stage at midnight on Friday, April 10, about 90 minutes after Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set. Coachella sent a 12:17 a.m. app alert saying “strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build” meant he could not perform. (variety.com) Billboard reported the cancellation came about 15 minutes after his scheduled start time, ending one of the last major sets on opening night. The Los Angeles Times also tracked high winds across Day 1 as festival operations shifted. (billboard.com, latimes.com) Anyma said after the cancellation that he was “heartbroken” and had spent a year building the show. Beatportal reported the scrapped performance was supposed to be the world premiere of his new live production, “ÆDEN.” (billboard.com, beatportal.com) The move to the Do Lab changed both the scale and format of the appearance. Instead of a solo main-stage spectacle built around custom staging, Sunday’s booking was a surprise closing slot in Coachella’s side-stage program, which is known for unannounced guests and dance-heavy sets. (ocregister.com, edmtunes.com) Hoffstadt, a Berlin producer whose profile has risen with fast-rave and trance-leaning club sets, became the bridge between the canceled Friday booking and Sunday’s replacement. Variety identified the new appearance as a joint set, not a direct rescheduling of the original production. (variety.com) Anyma is still listed by Billboard as scheduled for Weekend 2, which starts Friday, April 17. For Weekend 1 fans in Indio, the festival’s answer to the weather cancellation was not the show that was lost, but a late-night reset. (billboard.com)
