Nissan teased two new concept vehicles for Auto China 2026, one of which looks like a rugged, Chinese-market Xterra revival and may be fully electric according to the reveal images. (carscoops.com)

Nissan is bringing two new concept vehicles to Auto China 2026 in Beijing, with one teaser pointing to a rugged sport utility vehicle. (carscoops.com) Auto China 2026 opens April 24 and runs through May 3 at two Beijing venues, and Nissan has tied the reveal to that show. The company’s teaser image shows one boxy, high-riding concept and a second vehicle shaped more like a crossover. (beijingautoshow.com) (carscoops.com) The off-road concept appears to have slim headlights, a full-width light bar, hood-mounted auxiliary lamps, chunky tires, and high ground clearance. Carscoops also noted what looks like an enclosed front grille, a design cue commonly used on battery-electric vehicles because they need less front-end cooling than gasoline models. (carscoops.com) The second concept is harder to read from the teaser, but it looks like a lower, more conventional crossover. Its lighting signature appears to echo the redesigned Leaf that Nissan detailed on February 4, when it said the third-generation Leaf uses a new integrated 3-in-1 electric powertrain. (carscoops.com) (nissan-global.com) Nissan is staging the reveal a week after Dongfeng Nissan launched the NX8 in China on April 8. Nissan said the NX8 is a mid-size electrified sport utility vehicle and the third model in its China-focused N Series, after the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan and N7 mid-size electric sedan. (global.nissannews.com) The timing also lines up with Nissan’s broader strategy reset. On April 14, Nissan said its long-term plan centers on “AI-Defined Vehicles,” more electrified powertrain choices, and lead markets including China, the United States, and Japan. (global.nissannews.com) China has become central to that push because Nissan is using the market both for local growth and for product development it can scale elsewhere. Nissan said in its April 14 strategy release that China is one of three lead markets in its global plan, and the company’s newsroom has highlighted China launches including the NX8 this month. (global.nissannews.com 1) (global.nissannews.com 2) The backdrop is a weaker sales position in China. Nissan’s January 2026 sales report showed 33,714 retail sales in China for the month, down 30.6 percent from January 2025. (nissan-global.com) For now, Nissan has released only a single teaser image and no technical specifications, production timing, or model names for the two concepts. The fuller answer comes when the covers come off in Beijing on April 24. (carscoops.com) (beijingautoshow.com)
