Huawei Cloud Launches Hybrid Cloud Platform Globally
At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei Cloud launched its Huawei Cloud Stack (HCF) hybrid cloud platform for the global market. The company is positioning the solution to help industries tackle challenges with AI by providing an open, simplified, and resilient hybrid cloud infrastructure.
This global rollout follows a series of regional releases and updates for the platform, previously known as Huawei Cloud Stack. The latest versions, such as 8.3 and 8.5, have steadily increased the number of on-premises cloud services to over 120, focusing on capabilities like databases, data lakes, and AI models. A core component of Huawei's strategy is the integration of its Pangu large models, allowing enterprises to build and deploy custom AI models within their own data centers. The platform provides a full AI pipeline, including the necessary computing power and development tools, aiming to lower the barrier for enterprise AI adoption. The launch intensifies competition with established hybrid cloud players like VMware, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Huawei has gained significant traction in specific regions, ranking as the top hybrid cloud provider in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly within the government, finance, and telecom sectors. Key differentiators for the platform include solutions for modernizing legacy mainframe systems and the high-performance GaussDB distributed database. The company also offers over 50 scenario-specific solutions tailored for industries like finance, public services, and smart education. This global push is part of Huawei's broader "All Intelligence" and "Digitalized Intelligence" 2030 strategy, which envisions AI transforming all industries. The move also reflects the company's strategic pivot to build a self-reliant technology stack, offering a parallel ecosystem for global customers in the wake of US sanctions. To drive adoption, Huawei has launched programs like the "Telco2Techco Cloud Leap Program" in partnership with carriers such as Orange and Zain Kuwait. With a customer base of over 5,500 across more than 150 countries, the company is leveraging existing relationships to expand its hybrid cloud footprint.
