Rolling Stone has put BTS on eight May 2026 covers as the group’s reunion album keeps leading the United States charts. (rollingstone.com) The magazine said April 13 that its May package includes one group cover and seven solo covers, tied to a new interview about the band’s return. Rolling Stone also called it the most ambitious cover rollout in the magazine’s history. (rollingstone.com) In that interview, Rolling Stone said BTS reunited after mandatory military service and framed the new album *Arirang* as a return to the group’s roots. The cover story says Suga has been prioritizing his physical and mental health during this phase of the comeback. (rollingstone.com) BigHit Music released *Arirang* on March 20 as BTS’s fifth studio album, nearly three years and nine months after the group paused full-group activity. The label said the 14-track record draws on the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang” and is meant to reflect the band’s identity in 2026. (ibighit.com) Rolling Stone reported before release that “Swim” would serve as the title track and that the album involved producers including Mike WiLL Made-It, Flume, Diplo, El Guincho, JPEGMAFIA, and Ryan Tedder. The magazine also reported that multiple BTS members received writing and production credits across the album. (rollingstone.com) On the charts, Billboard reported that *Arirang* debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated April 4 with 641,000 equivalent album units. Billboard said that was the biggest week for an album by a group since the chart adopted unit-based measurement in December 2014. (billboard.com) Korean media outlets, citing Billboard’s April 18 chart preview, reported this week that *Arirang* stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a third straight week. Those reports also said “Swim” remained in the Hot 100 top five for a third week and held No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200, Global Excl. U.S., and Digital Song Sales charts. (koreaherald.com) (chosun.com) The scale of the comeback was visible before the third week, too. Billboard said BTS earned its seventh No. 1 album with *Arirang*, including 532,000 pure sales and 99.10 million on-demand official streams in the opening week. (billboard.com) The reunion has been in motion since July 2025, when BTS told fans in a Weverse livestream that all seven members would work together on new music for a 2026 return. Rolling Stone later reported that the comeback would also include a new tour. (rollingstone.com) Rolling Stone’s cover package lands as BTS is no longer being covered as a future reunion but as an active chart force again. The magazine’s timing tracks the same month that *Arirang* and “Swim” turned the group’s return into weekly Billboard results. (rollingstone.com) (billboard.com)
