Harry Styles' Funky Existential Crisis
Harry Styles' new album 'Kiss All The Time...' is being described as "a funky existential crisis" featuring introspective lyrics and danceable grooves. He'll support the release with concert residencies in seven major cities worldwide, signaling a global return to the stage after years away.
The new album follows his 2022 blockbuster, *Harry's House*, which became the UK's fastest and best-selling album of that year. Its lead single, "As It Was," dominated charts globally and was the best-selling single of 2022 worldwide. This release marks Styles' first new music in nearly four years and follows the conclusion of his marathon "Love On Tour." The previous tour spanned 22 months, covered seven legs, and wrapped up in Italy in July 2023 after 169 shows. After the tour, Styles maintained a low public profile, reportedly spending time living in Berlin while working on the new record. This move has drawn comparisons to David Bowie's "Berlin Trilogy" period, a time of significant artistic reinvention for the late icon. The album's sound is said to be heavily influenced by LCD Soundsystem and Styles' experiences in nightclubs, leaning into synthesizers and electronic music. Longtime collaborators Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson, who were integral to *Harry's House*, have returned to work on this project. Lyrically, the album delves into the conflict between his public celebrity persona and his private identity. On the track "Paint by Numbers," he sings, "Oh what a gift it is to be noticed, but it's nothing to do with me," highlighting his struggle with the nature of fame.
