Seattle Chinatown Book Club
The Seattle Chinatown Book Club continues its monthly meetings (last Sunday of each month) at Mam’s Bookstore in the International District [https://iexaminer.org/march-arts-calendar-2026/]. It's a low-key, culturally rich event for book lovers [https://iexaminer.org/march-arts-calendar-2026/].
The Seattle Chinatown Book Club (SCBC) meets at Mam's Bookstore, the first Asian American-owned independent bookstore in the Pacific Northwest, founded by Sokha Danh in late 2023. Danh named the store after his father and envisioned it as a "living room" for the community. Mitchell Keo founded the SCBC shortly after Mam's Books opened, with the first meeting hosting around 25 people. Now, the book club has grown, drawing up to 75 attendees and expanding meeting space to the neighboring One World Now. The SCBC is affiliated with Shunpike since September 2025. The book club focuses on literature related to the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) experience, usually written by AANHPI authors. Beyond book discussions, the SCBC has evolved into a community hub, hosting movie and game nights, open mic events, and recipe sharing.
