Hi Neighbor Plans New Waterfront Restaurant in Mission Bay

San Francisco's Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group is planning to open a new restaurant on the waterfront at China Basin in the Mission Bay neighborhood. The location is situated directly across from Oracle Park. The group has not yet released the restaurant's name or a projected opening date.

- The hospitality group behind the new venture, Hi Neighbor, also operates the Michelin-starred restaurant 7 Adams in Pacific Heights and Trestle, a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient. - The 4,400-square-foot space is being designed by architect Cass Calder Smith, whose previous projects include Perbacco and The Matheson, and will feature floor-to-ceiling retractable windows and reservable fire pits. - The restaurant's location is part of the larger Mission Rock development, a joint venture by the SF Giants and Tishman Speyer that has recently attracted major office leases from artificial intelligence companies. - Hi Neighbor Hospitality's partners—Ryan Cole, Tai Ricci, Jason Halverson, and Lucas Bierbower—were previously named "Restaurateurs of the Year" by both the Golden Gate Restaurant Association and San Francisco Magazine. - Executive Chef Jason Halverson will lead the culinary program for the new restaurant, which is expected to offer a "fine dining–caliber experience" alongside a bar and café. - The Mission Bay neighborhood has seen significant recent development, including the opening of the five-acre China Basin Park in 2024 and the completion of a 148-unit affordable housing complex in 2025. - The hospitality group's business model is built around a "start-up ethos," creating a culture that focuses on employee growth and retention through investment opportunities and benefits not typical in the restaurant industry.
