Gnarls Barkley Drops Final Album

Gnarls Barkley released their third and final album "Atlanta" — a farewell project that blends their signature neo-soul and experimental pop with themes reflecting on their journey. The album marks the end of an era for the duo behind iconic hits like "Crazy."

The 18-year gap between albums saw both members of Gnarls Barkley achieve significant individual success. Producer Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) became a highly sought-after, Grammy-winning producer for artists like Gorillaz, The Black Keys, and Beck. Vocalist CeeLo Green released several solo albums, including the commercially successful "The Lady Killer" which featured the worldwide hit "Fuck You" (edited for radio as "Forget You"). Their debut album, "St. Elsewhere" (2006), was a critical and commercial success, largely driven by the single "Crazy," which became the first song to top the UK charts based on download sales alone. The album itself was a unique blend of soul, hip-hop, and psychedelic sounds, establishing the duo's experimental and genre-bending style. Their second album, "The Odd Couple," followed in 2008. The final album, "Atlanta," is described as a "full circle moment" for the duo, with themes of nostalgia and self-discovery. The lead single, "Pictures," is inspired by CeeLo Green's childhood memories of riding Atlanta's MARTA train system. The album's sound is a blend of classic soul, funk, and R&B with modern production, featuring both introspective tracks and high-energy, celebratory moments. Looking ahead, Danger Mouse is involved in the development of "Danger Mouse: The Game," a side-scrolling video game expected to be released in 2026 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the animated series. As of early 2026, CeeLo Green has not announced any upcoming tour dates or new solo projects.
