Harvard Health reported in July 2026 that a study published July 14 in Neurology found older adults who maintained a brisk natural walking pace into their 80s and beyond were less likely to develop cognitive impairment. The report said “super-movers,” who walked faster than about 93% of their peers, were about 50% less likely to develop cognitive impairment over follow-up periods of 3.4 to 5.4 years.
