Max McGreevy Holes Career-First Albatross

Max McGreevy scored his first career albatross — a 2 on the par-5 3rd hole at PGA National during the Cognizant Classic. The rare feat was captured in viral video that's generating buzz across social media. Meanwhile, the Seminole Pro-Member field dropped without Tiger Woods but features stars like Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Nelly Korda, and Collin Morikawa.

An albatross, or double eagle, is one of the rarest feats in golf, with odds for a professional player estimated to be around 1 in 6,000. For amateur golfers, the odds skyrocket to approximately 1 in 6 million. This makes it significantly rarer than a hole-in-one, which has odds of about 1 in 12,000 for an average golfer. There have been just over 100 recorded albatrosses in the entire history of the PGA Tour. The Seminole Pro-Member is a highly exclusive one-day tournament held annually at the Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida. The event is known for its elite field, which includes top professional golfers, celebrities, and prominent business executives. Despite not offering any World Ranking points, an invitation to the tournament is highly coveted among professionals. The tournament's mystique is enhanced by the fact that it is not televised, with very little media shared publicly. The format is a two-person better-ball, with both gross and net titles awarded. The course itself, designed by Donald Ross, is a major draw, with Ben Hogan famously saying, "If you can play well at Seminole, you can play well anywhere." Tiger Woods' absence from the Seminole Pro-Member is notable as he was expected to participate. His withdrawal comes as he continues to grieve the recent loss of his mother. Woods has not yet made a PGA Tour start this season and his planned schedule leading up to the Masters remains uncertain. This year's Seminole Pro-Member field still boasts an impressive roster of talent, including four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, who often plays with his father, Gerry, a club member. Other notable participants include two-time major champion Collin Morikawa, LPGA superstar Nelly Korda, and U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley. The event annually takes place the day after the PGA Tour's Cognizant Classic, making it a convenient and prestigious stop for players already in the Palm Beach Gardens area. For the second consecutive year, no LIV Golf players were invited to participate in the event.
