Canada Post Blossom

The new stamps feature the Prunus 'Kanzan' and Prunus 'Somei-yoshino' cultivars, both popular ornamental cherry trees. These varieties are known for their beautiful blossoms and are widely planted across North America. The photographs used on the stamps were taken by Brett Hitchins at the Nitobe Memorial Garden at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Vancouver is home to over 20,000 cherry trees and hosts an annual cherry blossom festival. Canada Post has been issuing flower stamps annually since 2007, making the series a favorite among collectors. The stamps are often used for wedding invitations and other celebratory mail.
