Rory and Dad Win Seminole Pro-Member

Rory McIlroy teamed up with his father Gerry to win the prestigious Seminole Pro-Member event in Florida. The father-son duo's victory at what's often called "golf's most exclusive pro-am" marks a memorable achievement at the iconic Seminole Golf Club layout.

The winning score for the McIlroys was a nine-under 63 in the two-man best ball format. This gave them a two-shot victory over the team of PGA Tour pro Rickie Fowler and amateur Buddy Marucci. While the McIlroys took home the gross title, Collin Morikawa and his partner, David Novak, won the net portion of the event with a score of 62. This marks the first time the father-son duo has won the tournament together. However, Rory McIlroy is no stranger to victory at Seminole, having previously won the gross title in 2015 with partner John Pinkham before his father was a member of the club. The pair have come close to victory in other pro-am events, notably tying for the win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2019 but losing on a countback. The Seminole Pro-Member is an annual invitation-only event that brings together top professional golfers and influential club members. The tournament is known for its exclusivity and a tee sheet that rivals major championships, with no grandstands or TV cameras. This year's field included major champions like Brooks Koepka, as well as LPGA stars Nelly and Jessica Korda. The event is held at the Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida, a highly-ranked private course designed by Donald Ross in 1929. The course is known for its clever routing on a rectangular site, utilizing sand dune ridges to create changing wind directions on nearly every hole. Its challenging greens are considered its main defense.
