Zoho Maps Enhances Low-Code Platform Integration

Zoho has updated its Zoho Maps product with enhanced integration for the Zoho Creator low-code platform. The update enables business users to build location-driven applications with "drag-and-drop" spatial analytics tools. This aims to make location intelligence more accessible to non-specialist users within an organization.

Zoho's deeper integration of Maps into its Creator platform is a strategic move within the booming low-code development market. This market is projected to generate $187 billion in revenue by 2030, with 70% of new applications expected to be built using low-code or no-code technologies by 2026. The goal is to empower "citizen developers"—non-IT professionals who can build applications to meet specific business needs. This update specifically targets the creation of location-aware applications, a growing segment of the market. Use cases range from logistics and field service management, where users can track assets and optimize routes, to retail and real estate, for analyzing foot traffic and selecting sites. The "drag-and-drop" functionality is designed to simplify what was previously a complex development task requiring specialized GIS (Geographic Information System) skills. The enhancement is part of Zoho's broader strategy of creating a tightly integrated ecosystem of business applications. Founded by Sridhar Vembu, the company has consistently focused on organic growth and product reinvestment rather than relying on venture capital. This allows them to offer a comprehensive suite of over 60 applications, from CRM to finance, often at a lower cost than competitors. By embedding advanced mapping capabilities directly within its low-code platform, Zoho is competing with specialized location intelligence firms like Esri, Google Maps Platform, and CARTO. The key differentiator for Zoho is offering these spatial analytics tools as part of a single, unified platform, which can reduce the need for third-party integrations and simplify data management for the 150 million users across its ecosystem. Previously, integrating location data into Creator apps could lead to performance issues and required more complex workarounds, especially when geocoding large numbers of addresses. The recent backend rebuild focused on improving speed, reliability, and providing structured data outputs, making it easier for developers to build scalable, map-based workflows for tasks like geo-tagged attendance or location-based deal allocation. Looking ahead, the trend is toward embedding AI and machine learning into low-code platforms to further simplify development. For Zoho, this means leveraging its proprietary AI, Zia, to offer predictive analytics and automated insights based on spatial data, further lowering the technical barrier for businesses to implement location-based intelligence.
