Apple adds four U.S. chip partners

Apple announced a $400M expansion to its American Manufacturing Program, adding Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK and Qnity Electronics to beef up U.S. component production—part of a broader push to domesticize supply for iPhones and Macs. The move ties directly to Apple’s strategy to de-risk roadmaps and support Fremont’s growing manufacturing role as fabs and supply chains globalize. (parameter.io) (macobserver.com)

TDK will manufacture tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors in the U.S. for the first time to support camera stabilization in iPhones and to increase the volume of chips sourced from U.S. silicon supply chains. (apple.com) Apple will coordinate with Bosch and TSMC to produce integrated circuits for Bosch’s new sensing hardware at TSMC’s Washington fab in Camas, Washington, targeting features such as Crash Detection, Activity tracking and elevation. (apple.com) Cirrus Logic is set to collaborate with GlobalFoundries at GF’s Malta, New York site to establish new mixed‑signal semiconductor process technologies that Apple says will enable advanced ICs including those that power Face ID systems, building on a Cirrus‑GF strategic expansion announced in August 2025. (apple.com) Qnity Electronics and HD MicroSystems will supply advanced materials and technologies for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics in the U.S., with Qnity having been spun out of DuPont as an independent public company effective November 1, 2025. (apple.com) Apple’s AMP expansion reiterates earlier AMP participants — including GlobalFoundries, Applied Materials, Broadcom and Texas Instruments — as part of the company’s coordinated effort to increase on‑shore component and materials production. (apple.com) Market response included a multi‑percent move in supplier equity, with Cirrus Logic shares trading up roughly 5.6% on the day of the announcement according to market snapshots.
