Nuggets Sign Roddy, Gordon Returns

Denver Nuggets are set to sign David Roddy and waive Tamar Bates while Aaron Gordon is reportedly aiming to return to action on Friday. The moves bolster Denver's frontcourt depth as they prepare for their playoff push in the competitive Western Conference.

David Roddy joins the Nuggets on a two-way contract, providing wing depth for the remainder of the season. A 2022 first-round pick, Roddy has played 168 career NBA games with several teams, holding averages of 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds. His most productive season was his rookie year with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds over 70 games. To create the roster spot for Roddy, the Nuggets waived two-way guard Tamar Bates. Bates, who went undrafted in 2025, had surgery on a fractured left foot in late December. In 13 appearances with the Grand Rapids Gold, Denver's G League affiliate, he averaged 19.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Aaron Gordon's return is a significant development for Denver as he's been sidelined since January 23 with a re-aggravated right hamstring strain. This was his second significant stint on the sideline this season due to hamstring issues, limiting him to just 23 games played. Before the injury, he was averaging 17.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. The roster moves come as the Nuggets navigate a tight Western Conference playoff race. They currently sit 5th in the standings with a record of 38-24. Gordon's return from injury is crucial for a team that went just 7-9 in their last 16 games without him.
