Five Arrested in Brazen Beverly Hills Robbery

Five suspects from Oakland have been arrested and charged in connection with a high-profile, brazen robbery in Beverly Hills. The case highlights ongoing concerns about organized, cross-regional criminal networks operating in Southern California.

The November 2024 armed robbery unfolded in the 400 block of North Rodeo Drive, where assailants attacked two victims in broad daylight. A male victim was struck in the back of the head with a firearm, while a female companion was thrown to the ground and kicked repeatedly. The suspects, described as four men in black clothing and face coverings, stole handbags, cash, and an engagement ring. They fled the scene in a white rental vehicle driven by a fifth accomplice. An intensive investigation by the Beverly Hills Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, led them to Oakland. Detectives utilized investigative technology and obtained several warrants to confirm the identities of the five suspects before apprehending them. The individuals arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy were Kingikirah Stevenson, 31, D'Angelo Tedla, 22, Kingelijah Stevenson, 18, Wendel Stevenson, 18, and Jaeyden Duncan, 18. This robbery highlights a persistent trend of organized retail crime, which has seen California law enforcement agencies intensify their efforts. The state's Organized Retail Crime Task Force, led by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), has been central to this response. In 2024, the CHP's task force conducted 879 investigations that led to 1,707 arrests and the recovery of over $13.5 million in stolen merchandise. By 2025, statewide organized retail crime investigations had surged by over 3,000% since 2019. Recent state legislation aims to further combat these criminal networks by imposing stricter penalties. New laws allow for felony charges on a third theft offense and add sentencing enhancements based on the value of stolen goods, particularly for amounts over $50,000.
