Highly Suspect Debuts "Yellow Roses"
Alt-rock band Highly Suspect has premiered their new single "Yellow Roses". The band's latest release continues their legacy of genre-blending, emotionally charged rock, and is available for streaming and radio play now. The track represents another evolution in their sound that has kept them relevant in the alternative rock scene.
"Yellow Roses" is the first new music from Highly Suspect since their 2024 album, *As Above, So Below*. In an interview, frontman Johnny Stevens revealed the song is about the life he could have had, wondering about a "perfect little life" he didn't choose. The track signals a potential new chapter for the band, who are now releasing music independently after parting ways with their record labels. The band, consisting of twin brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer, Johnny Stevens, Matt Kofos, and Mark Schwartz, originally formed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as a cover band. Their 2015 debut album, *Mister Asylum*, earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album, with the single "Lydia" also nominated for Best Rock Song. Their journey has been marked by a consistent evolution in sound. While known for hard rock, their roots are in hip-hop and reggae. This foundation resurfaced in their 2019 album *MCID*, which featured collaborations with artists like Young Thug and Gojira and incorporated more electronic and pop elements. Stevens has stated he doesn't want to be "stuck in one lane" musically or in life, viewing their sonic shifts as a natural progression. This philosophy was evident when he challenged fans to embrace their hip-hop tracks on *MCID*, promising the rock songs on the album would be their best yet. The new single arrives as the band continues to tour and has a scheduled performance at the Welcome to Rockville festival in May 2026. Stevens has hinted at more new music coming soon, telling fans, "It's gonna be a damn good year to be a Highly Suspect fan."
