CyHi Addresses Kanye Fallout

CyHi released 'The G.O.O.D. Ole Days,' a six-minute track candidly addressing his complicated history with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label. The song tackles relationships with Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, and Pusha T, sparking conversation around label dynamics and artist independence. It marks a rare public airing of grievances from the former G.O.O.D. Music affiliate.

Long before his latest track, CyHi was a key architect of the G.O.O.D. Music sound, known for his extensive, often uncredited, songwriting for Kanye West. He has writing credits on nearly every song on West's album *Yeezus* and contributed to numerous other acclaimed projects, including *My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy*. His signing to G.O.O.D. Music in 2010 was reportedly encouraged by Beyoncé after she heard his verse for the song "So Appalled." This track became his introduction to a wider audience on West's fifth album. Despite this high-profile entry and a string of mixtapes, his own solo album faced years of delays. This isn't the first time CyHi has publicly voiced his frustrations. In 2015, he released a track titled "Elephant in the Room" aimed at Kanye West and the label, addressing the delays of his debut album and even including threatening lyrics, which he later clarified were not a literal diss. In "The G.O.O.D. Ole Days," CyHi claims that Kanye "almost f*ed around and killed" Kid Cudi, suggesting this is why their relationship remains "muddy." [He also addresses Travis](https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/grounding-api-redirect/AUZIYQESomVyZIrYNWWB8nNuazun69ZYjKA--BaC3bYPci7cYv8L47Corvse8Ml6hPuWdp8Z82-Jw_EOfv3MzEsx5CHe3mX-2lD5jTQeEIzSj3d4kMrmp8xlocWakZlCJOLEt4oQGP7trw==) Scott, stating he "developed the habit of letting n**s diss us, then try to tell us it's rapping." Despite the turmoil, CyHi has consistently defended Kanye West through his public controversies, stating that West "saved his life" and that the public often misunderstands him. On the new track, he offers a nuanced perspective on West, acknowledging his difficult behavior while crediting him for the success of many "college rappers." The song also praises Pusha T, calling him "the realest" for providing verses and features for free to help boost his booking fees. CyHi expresses hope that Pusha T and Kanye West, whose relationship soured with Pusha T stepping down as president of G.O.O.D. Music in 2022, could one day reconcile.
