HONOR & ZTE Push AI Vision at MWC
At MWC 2026, major tech firms outlined their visions for an AI-integrated future. HONOR's CEO introduced a concept of "Augmented Human Intelligence" (AHI) to enhance human potential. Meanwhile, ZTE showcased its full-stack AI innovations, including AI-driven connectivity and intelligent home devices.
HONOR's "Augmented Human Intelligence" is a strategy materialized through its "ALPHA PLAN," which rests on three pillars: Alpha Phone, Alpha Store, and Alpha Lab. At MWC 2026, the company offered a preview of its "Robot Phone" concept, a device featuring a three-axis gimbal and AI-powered motion and spatial awareness to create more professional-looking video. This initiative is part of a broader industry trend of Chinese tech firms moving from cost-effective products to innovation-led strategies. HONOR CEO James Li emphasized a human-centric approach to AI, stating the goal is to imbue artificial intelligence with both IQ and EQ. This philosophy extends beyond smartphones to a new humanoid robot designed for shopping assistance, workplace inspections, and personal companionship. The company also showcased the Magic V6, the first foldable phone to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and new MagicPad and MagicBook Pro models, integrating AI across its entire device ecosystem. ZTE's "All in AI, AI for All" strategy is built on what it calls "full-stack AI innovations," which it presented across four main areas: AI Agentic Connectivity, AI Cloud, AI Home, and Smart Personal Devices. The company unveiled eight major breakthroughs, including its AIR MAX solution, which uses an AI-native architecture to enhance network efficiency and operations. Senior Vice President Zhang Wanchun noted that the industry is moving from a "data era" to a "Bit+Token" era, with AI fundamentally reshaping the economy. ZTE's demonstrations included tangible hardware and infrastructure advancements. The company showcased a 6G prototype with over 2,000 antenna elements, promising a tenfold capacity increase over 5G-Advanced. It also presented the nubia M153, an "AI Native Phone" co-developed with Doubao that allows an AI assistant to perform tasks across different applications without needing third-party APIs. For data centers, ZTE's SuperPOD architecture supports up to 128 GPUs in a single rack with a zero-cable design.
