iPhone 18 Pro Gets Deep Red
Apple is testing a "deep red" color option for the iPhone 18 Pro expected in late 2026 or 2027, while the foldable iPhone may stick to classic colors at launch. The company is also ramping up R&D on next-generation wearables including smart glasses, a pendant device, and camera-equipped AirPods designed for an AI-driven era.
- Apple's collaboration with (RED), the organization co-founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to combat HIV/AIDS, dates back to 2006. - The first (Product)RED release from Apple was a special edition iPod nano. Since then, the company has offered a variety of products in red, including iPods, Apple Watch bands, and cases. - While numerous standard iPhone models, like the iPhone 7, 8, XR, and 11, have been available in (Product)RED, this color has not previously been an option for the premium "Pro" lineup. - The Pro models have historically featured exclusive, more muted colors, such as Midnight Green for the iPhone 11 Pro, Pacific Blue for the iPhone 12 Pro, Sierra Blue for the iPhone 13 Pro, and Deep Purple for the iPhone 14 Pro. - As of 2017, Apple had contributed over $130 million to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria through its (RED) partnership, making it the largest corporate donor. - A portion of the proceeds from (Product)RED sales has also been directed to the Global Fund's COVID-19 Response to address the impact of the pandemic on vulnerable communities with HIV/AIDS. - A "deep red" iPhone 18 Pro would represent a strategic shift, introducing a color traditionally associated with a charitable cause to its top-tier smartphone line for the first time.
