Miu Miu returns

Miu Miu revived its Literary Club at Milan Design Week under the theme “Politics of Desire,” staging talks and programming around sexuality, female empowerment and politics. The programming places the house in a cultural conversation rather than just a product moment, with panels and events tied into the Design Week calendar. (wwd.com)

Miu Miu is bringing back its Literary Club in Milan on April 22 to 24, turning Milan Design Week into a three-day program about desire, consent and self-determination. (miumiu.com) The 2026 edition is called “Politics of Desire,” and Miu Miu says it will run at Circolo Filologico Milanese, a historic venue on Via Clerici, under the direction of Miuccia Prada. WWD reported the event is the fourth Literary Club overall and the third one timed to Milan Design Week. (wwd.com) Miu Miu built this year’s program around two books: Annie Ernaux’s *A Girl’s Story* from 2016 and Ama Ata Aidoo’s *Changes: A Love Story* from 1991. The brand says the discussions will use those texts to examine sexuality, desire and consent. (miumiu.com) The first day, April 22, centers on Ernaux’s book and a panel with Annabelle Hirsch, Lea Melandri and Megan Nolan, moderated by Lou Stoppard. That same day includes a lecture called “Desire After AI” by cultural theorist Olga Goriunova, based on her 2025 book *Ideal Subjects. The Abstract People of AI*. (miumiu.com) Fuorisalone, the umbrella platform for Milan Design Week events, lists the Literary Club in the Brera Design District and says Miu Miu has added a public day on April 24. On that final day, the space will become a reading room instead of only a talks venue. (fuorisalone.it) That extra day comes with another new element: a “Curated Library” designed by feminist philosopher Rosi Braidotti. Fuorisalone says the library is meant for consultation and inspiration and frames access to books as a form of empowerment. (fuorisalone.it) The format gives Miu Miu a place in Milan’s design-week calendar without staging a furniture launch or a conventional fashion drop. Official event materials describe the club as a bridge between literature and contemporary life, extending the brand’s cultural programming beyond runway season. (miumiu.com) This is not a one-off project. Miu Miu says the 2024 edition was called “Writing Life,” and Fuorisalone says the 2025 edition was “A Woman’s Education,” making “Politics of Desire” the latest chapter in a recurring salon-style series. (miumiu.com) Registration is required for April 22 and 23, while Fuorisalone says April 24 will allow entry registration at the door. For a brand that usually speaks through clothes, this return to Milan is being staged through books, panels and a reading room. (fuorisalone.it)
