Romeo & Juliet Extends West End Run
Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe's acclaimed production of Romeo & Juliet at the Harold Pinter Theatre announced a two-week run extension, with new tickets on sale as of March 3. The extension is a testament to the show's popularity and star power in London's West End.
This production marks the West End debuts for both of its young stars, Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe. Sink, widely known for her role as Max Mayfield in Netflix's *Stranger Things*, has a history on Broadway, having appeared in *Annie* and *The Audience*. Jupe, recognized for his roles in the *A Quiet Place* films and *Honey Boy*, will be making his professional stage debut. The production is helmed by Robert Icke, an Olivier Award-winning director celebrated for his modern and often radical reinterpretations of classic texts. His previous work includes critically acclaimed productions of George Orwell's *1984*, Aeschylus' *Oresteia*, and an adaptation of *Hamlet* starring Andrew Scott. This is Icke's second time directing *Romeo & Juliet*, his first being a touring production for Headlong in 2012. The Harold Pinter Theatre, where the play is running, was originally named the Royal Comedy Theatre when it opened in 1881. It was renamed in 2011 to honor the influential playwright Harold Pinter. The theatre has a history of staging premieres of significant plays, including works by Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams. This staging of Shakespeare's tragedy is one of several high-profile productions of the Bard's work in London. The extension of its run from 14 to 16 weeks signals strong early ticket sales and significant public interest, driven by the combination of its acclaimed director and celebrity leads.
