Singapore's Viral Peranakan Stall Expands

Nya Nya, the viral Peranakan food stall, opened a new outlet at Mandai Wildlife Reserve with modern twists on traditional recipes. The expansion features the charismatic "hunky brother" who helped make the original stall famous on social media.

The Nya Nya brand is a modern spin-off from a long-standing family food business, Nonya Delicatessen. The family's culinary roots trace back to 1980 when the grandmother of the now-famous brothers started the original kiosk at Bukit Timah Plaza. The new stalls are a third-generation effort to continue this 46-year-old foodie legacy. The charismatic duo who went viral are brothers Daryl Lim, 27, and Damian Lim, 21. Their social media fame is not just for their looks; both are hands-on, handling everything from cooking to cashiering at their Wisma Atria outlet which opened on January 1, 2026. The original stall's signature dishes are based on time-honored family recipes, including a 46-year-old chicken curry recipe used in their popular Nasi Kunyit ($8.90). Other favorites include Nonya Laksa ($6.90) and Mee Siam ($6.90), all prepared with house-made rempah (spice paste). The new, smaller Mandai Wildlife Reserve outlet, named Nya Nya Nonya Laksa, will be managed solely by the younger brother, Damian. He will be running the stall after graduating from his real estate studies and before enlisting in National Service. Due to its smaller size, the Mandai menu is more focused, featuring their Nonya Laksa as the only savory dish at a slightly higher price of $8.90. The stall will also offer desserts like Sago Gula Melaka and various homemade kueh. This expansion into Mandai is part of a larger plan for the Nya Nya brand. The family has another outlet in the works for Suntec City, continuing their effort to bring traditional Peranakan flavors to a wider, modern audience.
