Medvedev Reaches Dubai Final

Daniil Medvedev defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the Dubai final, putting him just one win away from his first successful title defense. Meanwhile, Andrey Rublev joined legends Federer and Djokovic as the only players to reach five Dubai semifinals.

Daniil Medvedev clinched his second consecutive Dubai Tennis Championships title in an unconventional manner, winning by a walkover after his opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, was forced to withdraw from the final due to a left hamstring injury. This victory marks Medvedev's 23rd career ATP Tour title. The win is a notable milestone for the former world No. 1, as it represents the first time he has successfully defended a title at any tournament. Medvedev reached the final without dropping a single set throughout the week, showcasing a dominant performance. Griekspoor's withdrawal came after a hard-fought semifinal victory over Andrey Rublev. The Dutchman had been struggling with the hamstring issue during that match and even stated he would have retired had he lost the second set. The injury unfortunately denied Griekspoor the chance to compete for what would have been his first ATP 500 title. In his semifinal, he had saved two set points against Rublev before winning a tiebreak to advance to the championship match.
