Naomi Sharon's Summer Single
OVO SOUND's first lady Naomi Sharon dropped "MISS THAT," described as a "sizzling summer anthem" and "poppin anthem." The release positions Sharon as an emerging force in contemporary R&B as she steps further into the spotlight.
Born and raised in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to a Dutch mother and a Curaçaoan father, Naomi Sharon grew up surrounded by music. Her father worked as a DJ and her mother was a singer, immersing her in a diverse range of sounds from artists like Sade, Stevie Wonder, and Sting. Before launching her solo music career, Sharon honed her performance skills in musical theater, appearing in productions of "The Lion King" and "Dream Girls." She also participated in the sixth season of The Voice of Holland in 2016. Her journey into releasing her own music began after a period of vocal recovery, which led to her 2019 debut single, "The Moon." It was her second single, "Breeze," that caught the attention of Drake, leading to her historic signing as the first female artist on his OVO Sound label in early 2023. Sharon's debut album, "Obsidian," was released in October 2023 and explored themes of heartbreak, healing, and rebirth. The project, primarily produced by Alex Lustig and Beau Nox with contributions from OVO's Noah "40" Shebib, was lauded for its emotional depth and genre-blending sound. The new single, "MISS THAT," features production from Jordan Ullman of the OVO SOUND duo Majid Jordan and samples the song "If You Leave Me Now" by Chicago. The track is the lead single from her forthcoming album, which is expected in May 2026. Ahead of the single's official release, "MISS THAT" was exclusively previewed during New York Fashion Week at a collaboration event with designer Telfar. Sharon's 2025 EP, "The Only Love We Know," earned a nomination for Best Soul/R&B/Funk Album at the 2026 Edison Awards, a prestigious Dutch music prize. She has also served as an opening act for artist Tems across the United States.
