Alien: Earth Trailer Drops
FX just released the full trailer for "Alien: Earth" — Noah Hawley's series set two years before Ridley Scott's original film. The show pits Xenomorphs against synthetic soldiers in a new storyline that deepens the mythology. This prequel approach promises high-stakes tension while expanding the sci-fi universe fans know.
The series introduces a new lead, Wendy, the first human-synthetic hybrid who possesses the consciousness of a terminally ill girl in an adult android body. Sydney Chandler stars in the role, joined by Alex Lawther as her fully human brother, Joe Hermit, and Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, a synthetic scientist who mentors the hybrids. Creator Noah Hawley (known for *Fargo* and *Legion*) has stated that this is "not a Ripley story" and Sigourney Weaver's iconic character will not be featured. Instead, the narrative focuses on class warfare and the unchecked power of corporations in a future where five major companies, including the infamous Weyland-Yutani and the emerging Prodigy Corporation, control Earth. The plot is set in motion when a Weyland-Yutani vessel, the USCSS Maginot, crashes into Prodigy's city of New Siam, unleashing a Xenomorph. This event forces a confrontation between humanity, the deadly alien, and the new form of human-synthetic life represented by Wendy and a group of other hybrids known as the "Lost Boys". Filmed in Thailand, the series leans into a "retro-futurism" aesthetic to align with the 1979 original, while also incorporating new technology like tablets. The show's setting on Earth is a departure for the franchise, aiming to explore what happens when the alien threat is not confined to a spaceship or a distant colony but is brought to the heart of human civilization. The first season consists of eight episodes which premiered on FX and Hulu on August 12, 2025. The series has already been renewed for a second season, with showrunner Noah Hawley indicating that future storylines might eventually connect to the events of the second film, *Aliens*, and potentially explore the Hadley's Hope colony on LV-426.
