Anthropic Releases 13 Free AI Courses

Anthropic has launched a suite of 13 free AI courses, complete with certificates of completion. The move provides a new, no-cost avenue for engineers and students to build skills in a hyper-competitive market where GenAI expertise is becoming a prerequisite for many roles. The courses are available on the Skilljar platform.

The new courses extend beyond basic AI literacy, with specific tracks for developers that cover practical applications of Anthropic's models. Offerings like "Claude Code in Action" and "Building with the Claude API" provide hands-on experience in using AI for real-world coding tasks. The curriculum also includes specialized courses on integrating Claude with platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud's Vertex AI. For those preparing for technical interviews, Claude is positioned as a tool for mastering data structures and algorithms. The platform can generate practice problems, explain complex concepts with real-world analogies, and walk through optimal solutions for classic interview questions involving graphs and heaps. Anthropic even provides guidance on how candidates can use Claude to prepare for their own hiring process, suggesting prompts to research the company and refine interview answers. The developer-focused courses are designed to impart skills that can be directly applied to building portfolio-worthy projects. Students can learn to build full-stack applications, with Claude generating the front-end, back-end, and database code. Some of the courses are taught by instructors with experience at major tech companies; for example, one of the Udemy courses on Claude Code is led by a former senior engineer from Amazon. Anthropic's educational push is part of a broader strategy to build a developer community around its AI, competing with similar initiatives from Google, OpenAI, and Meta. While FAANG companies also offer a range of free AI and machine learning courses, Anthropic's curriculum is specifically designed to showcase the unique capabilities of its Claude models. The company is actively hiring engineers, emphasizing that the role is shifting from writing code to prompting and directing AI systems.
