Founder Wellness Startup Coral Care Raises $13M
Coral Care, a platform connecting families with licensed therapists, has raised a $13M Series A. The funding for Jennifer Wirt's company highlights growing investor recognition that founder and team well-being are inseparable from business success during scale-up phases.
The Series A round was led by Haymaker Ventures, with participation from FCA Ventures, Peterson Ventures, Alleycorp, Reach Capital, and others. This latest capital injection brings Coral Care's total funding to approximately $21 million since its inception. The company plans to use the funds to expand its services nationwide, with new markets recently launched in major cities like Dallas, Houston, and Chicago. Founder and CEO Jennifer Wirt was motivated to start Coral Care after her own challenging experience navigating pediatric therapy services for her daughter. She faced long waitlists and a lack of in-network providers, a common struggle for the nearly one in five families with children experiencing developmental delays. Wirt's background in building digital health platforms for companies like Weight Watchers and Samsung informed her approach to solving these systemic barriers. Coral Care's platform connects families with a network of over 400 licensed speech, occupational, and physical therapists for in-home, insurance-covered care. This model is designed to provide more contextual, real-world therapy for children in their natural environments. For clinicians, the platform reduces administrative burdens like scheduling and billing by up to 15 hours per week, allowing them to focus on patient care. The investment in Coral Care comes as the digital health market shows signs of recovery, with mental health being a particularly strong sector. In 2024, venture capital investment in mental health surged by 38% to $2.7 billion. This trend reflects a broader societal shift in recognizing the importance of mental wellness and a growing demand for accessible care solutions.
