Nine NYC restaurants added

Michelin’s latest New York update added nine restaurants to the city’s guide, with Brooklyn accounting for five of the new entries and Manhattan four ( ). Michelin updates New York’s selection twice a year, and these nine are now in the pool that could be considered for future stars or Bib Gourmand awards (ny.eater.com).

Michelin added nine New York City restaurants to its guide on April 15, widening the field for future stars and Bib Gourmand picks. (guide.michelin.com) The new group breaks five-to-four in Brooklyn’s favor. Brooklyn’s additions are Entre Nous in Clinton Hill, Los Burritos Juárez in Fort Greene, Bong in Crown Heights, Vato in Park Slope, and I Cavallini in Williamsburg; Manhattan’s are Le Chêne in Greenwich Village, Hwaro in Midtown West, Cove in Manhattan, and Elcielo New York in Manhattan. (guide.michelin.com) Michelin said it adds new restaurants to the New York selection twice a year, while stars and Bib Gourmands are held for the annual ceremony. The company marks these places with a “New” symbol on its website and mobile app before any later award decisions. (guide.michelin.com) That makes this update a scouting list, not a prize list. Michelin’s own criteria focus on ingredient quality, harmony of flavors, mastery of cooking techniques, the chef’s voice, and consistency across visits. (fox5ny.com) Brooklyn’s five entries span a wide price and cuisine range, from the dollar-sign burritos at Los Burritos Juárez to the four-dollar-sign Cambodian menu at Bong. Michelin’s inspectors also highlighted Entre Nous for its wine-bar format, Vato for house-made flour tortilla burritos, and I Cavallini for an Italian menu from chef Nick Curtola. (guide.michelin.com) Manhattan’s additions tilt more formal. Michelin describes Le Chêne as a classic French restaurant from Alexia and Ronan Duchêne, Hwaro as chef Sungchul Shim’s 22-seat counter blending Korean flavors with French technique, Cove as contemporary, and Elcielo New York as Colombian. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) The timing also lines up with Michelin’s regular New York cycle. Michelin published a larger spring New York additions list in April 2025, and this year’s March 25, 2026 update is the first New York refresh for the 2026 guide. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) For diners, the practical change is immediate: all nine restaurants now appear in Michelin’s New York selection online. For the restaurants, the next milestone is the annual New York ceremony, when Michelin decides whether any of these new entries move from “new” to starred or Bib Gourmand status.
