United Airlines is partnering with Netflix's Chef's Table to introduce 10 new meal experiences in Polaris Business Class, launching August 1. Eleven chefs from four continents, representing United's U.S. hub cities and key international gateways like London, Tokyo, and São Paulo, will create regionally-inspired dishes. The aim is to bring restaurant-quality meals to the sky, a nod to the airline's ambition to elevate its current in-flight dining. The new menus will feature a complete meal, including appetizer, salad, and entree, inspired by the chef's home city. Participating chefs include Nancy Silverton (Los Angeles), Fariyal Abdullahi (New York), Jenner Tomaska (Chicago), Justin Yu (Houston), David Barzelay (San Francisco), Penelope Wong (Denver), Isabel Coss & Matt Conroy (Washington, DC), Tomos Parry (London), Tashi Gyamtso (Tokyo), and Manu Buffara (São Paulo). The rollout begins August 1 on Polaris flights departing from each chef's home city. United's Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Nocella, hopes the collaboration will deliver "restaurant-quality moments in the sky". Justin Connor, President of Chef's Table Projects, believes the partnership will turn a global culinary journey into reality for millions of passengers. While airline partnerships with celebrity chefs are not new, United hopes to create a unified, story-driven culinary brand.
