Startup Launches to Measure AI Engineering ROI
A new startup, Navigara, has launched with $2.5 million in backing to create a "performance layer" for enterprise engineering. The platform aims to help leaders definitively answer whether expensive AI tools are actually improving performance and delivering a return on investment.
The founding team behind Navigara consists of former CTO Jirka Bachel and ex-Director of Engineering Peter Malina, who bring a combined 33+ years of experience from Silicon Valley and Prague, having scaled products for Fortune 500 companies and global platforms like Kiwi.com. Their direct experience with the difficulty of mapping engineering efforts to business outcomes was the catalyst for creating the platform. The $2.5 million seed round was led by Inovo VC, with participation from Rockaway Ventures and QQ Capital. Rockaway Ventures noted that developer productivity is now a critical issue for most companies and highlighted the need to distinguish which AI tools genuinely create value versus those that are an unnecessary expense. Navigara's platform integrates directly with systems like GitHub, GitLab, Jira, and Linear. It uses AI agents to analyze metadata, code quality, and delivery velocity to create performance baselines, allowing leaders to objectively measure the impact of new AI tools by comparing before-and-after performance. The company operates in a market where enterprise AI spending is forecasted to grow at 30-40% annually, yet many leaders struggle to justify the investment. Only 23% of engineering organizations have clear metrics for developer productivity, creating a significant gap between engineering activity and measurable business impact that Navigara aims to fill. To address security concerns common in enterprise sales, Navigara is deployed within a customer's private cloud environment. This ensures that source code is analyzed in memory and never stored, and proprietary data is not used for training models, a critical requirement for high-compliance industries.
