Bills Trade for DJ Moore

The Buffalo Bills acquired WR D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears in a trade, strengthening their receiving corps for next season. Social media buzz suggests the Patriots are also reportedly trading a 2nd-round pick for star WR A.J. Brown, creating major roster shuffles across the AFC East.

The Buffalo Bills are taking on the remainder of D.J. Moore's four-year, $110 million contract as part of the trade, which runs through the 2029 season. Buffalo has also guaranteed $15.5 million of Moore's 2028 salary, signaling a long-term commitment to the receiver. The move provides a significant boost to a Bills receiving corps that had limited production outside of Khalil Shakir, who led the team with 719 receiving yards in 2025. Moore's production dipped in 2025 with the Chicago Bears, recording 682 receiving yards, a career low. This was partly attributed to a run-heavy offense and the emergence of other passing targets like Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland. However, the Bills are banking on a return to the form Moore showed under new Bills head coach Joe Brady when he was the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, where Moore topped 1,100 receiving yards in both 2020 and 2021. The New England Patriots' pursuit of A.J. Brown appears to be a direct response to the Bills' acquisition of Moore. The Patriots reportedly offered a first and a third-round pick for the Eagles' star receiver, a deal Philadelphia rejected. The Eagles are reportedly holding out for a first and second-round pick to part with Brown. Acquiring a top receiver is a clear priority for the Patriots, whose leading wideout in 2025, Stefon Diggs, amassed 1,013 receiving yards. The potential addition of Brown, who is under contract through 2029 after signing a three-year, $96 million extension in 2024, would provide a significant long-term weapon for their offense. These aggressive moves by the Bills and Patriots are shaking up an already competitive AFC East. The Miami Dolphins are in a state of transition, having released high-profile players like Tyreek Hill and with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's future uncertain. Meanwhile, the New York Jets are looking to build around a young roster and have significant salary cap space to be active in free agency.
