Anthropic has started rolling out Claude Design, a new workspace that turns prompts into prototypes, slide decks, one-pagers, and other visual drafts inside Claude. (anthropic.com) Anthropic announced Claude Design on April 17, 2026, and said the product runs on Claude Opus 4.7 and is available in research preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. The company said the rollout would happen gradually over the day. (anthropic.com) The tool starts with a text prompt, but Anthropic said users can also upload images and documents, point Claude at a codebase, or use a web capture tool to pull elements from a website. Anthropic said teams can export work as PowerPoint files or send it to Canva. (anthropic.com; techcrunch.com) Anthropic is pitching the product at designers, founders, product managers, marketers, and sales teams that need a fast first draft without starting in a traditional design app. TechCrunch reported Anthropic described it as a complement to Canva rather than a replacement. (anthropic.com; techcrunch.com) The launch extends Anthropic’s push from chat and coding into workplace software that produces finished business materials. Anthropic’s release notes tied Claude Design to the April 16 general availability launch of Opus 4.7 and to a broader run of product updates in Claude this month. (support.claude.com) A key part of the product comes from Canva. Canva said on April 16 that its Design Engine and Visual Suite now sit inside Claude Design, so drafts made in Claude can move into Canva as fully editable designs. (canva.com) Canva said users can also import HTML generated in Claude into Canva’s drag-and-drop editor, then change colors, layouts, and other elements without regenerating code. Canva said the companies have worked together for two years and that millions of people have used Canva inside Claude since the Canva MCP launch last July. (canva.com) Anthropic is also selling Claude Design as a way to apply a company’s existing visual rules automatically. The company said Claude can build a design system during onboarding by reading codebases and design files, then reuse those colors, type styles, and components across projects. (anthropic.com) The product’s controls differ by plan. Anthropic’s pricing and help pages say audit logs, usage analytics, and the Compliance API are Enterprise features, while audit logs are not available outside Enterprise organizations. (claude.com; support.claude.com; support.claude.com) That leaves Claude Design arriving as a Labs preview with consumer and business access on day one, but with the fuller monitoring features still concentrated in Enterprise plans. Anthropic is framing the product as a faster path from an idea in chat to something a team can present, test, or hand off. (anthropic.com; claude.com)
