Beta Technologies selected for FAA pilot program.
South Burlington-based Beta Technologies will begin flying its electric aircraft in Vermont this year under the FAA’s new eVTOL program.
Beta Technologies was selected by the FAA to participate in the agency's "Innovate28" program, designed to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into the national airspace system. Innovate28 aims to have these aircraft safely, efficiently, and sustainably incorporated into airports by 2028. The company's selection reflects the FAA's interest in Beta's Alia aircraft and its potential for regional transportation. Beta is among a small group of companies working closely with the FAA on these integration efforts. Vermont will be a key location for testing and demonstrating Beta's technology in real-world conditions. The partnership could bring new economic opportunities and solidify Vermont's position as a hub for aviation innovation.
