Christie’s is using the week of April 15 in Paris to stack its spring art sales around one marquee evening auction and two follow-on day sales. (press.christies.com) The main event is the 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in Paris at Christie’s saleroom on Avenue Matignon. Artnet’s auction calendar lists the sale for that date and venue. (artnet.com) Christie’s said the Paris series runs across April 15, 16, and 17, with the April 16 session devoted to the Contemporary Art Day Sale and April 17 to the Impressionist and Modern day sale. The company described the April 15 evening auction as one of the major Paris highlights of the season. (press.christies.com) The evening sale is built around two works carrying the same estimate band: Claude Lalanne’s *Pomme de New York* at €5 million to €7 million and Maurice de Vlaminck’s *La Femme au Chapeau* at €5 million to €7 million. Christie’s said the Vlaminck comes from the former Ambroise Vollard collection. (press.christies.com) Artnet’s listing shows how Christie’s is pitching the sale: women artists including Berthe Morisot, Anna-Eva Bergman, Germaine Richier, and Olga de Amaral, alongside postwar and contemporary names such as Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly, Zao Wou-Ki, Pierre Soulages, and Anish Kapoor. The same listing also points to a “Thinking Italian” section with Mario Schifano, Jannis Kounellis, and Lucio Fontana. (artnet.com) The April 16 Contemporary Art Day Sale shifts to a broader, lower-priced format. Christie’s said it will include about 100 works and highlighted David Hockney’s iPad painting *The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (twenty eleven) – 2 January* with an estimate of €150,000 to €200,000. (press.christies.com) That structure is typical of marquee-week scheduling: the evening sale concentrates a smaller group of high-value works, and the day sale widens the field with more lots and lower estimates. Christie’s said the evening auction would offer “several dozen” works, while the contemporary day sale would offer around 100. (press.christies.com) Christie’s is also tying the Paris week to its March results in London. In its Paris announcement, the company said the earlier London sales brought in more than €281 million, and it framed the April schedule as a continuation of that momentum. (press.christies.com) A separate Christie’s online sale shows the house is running parallel channels at the same time. Its Modern American Art Online sale in New York opened on March 20 and closes on April 17, with 70 lots listed on the sale page. (christies.com) The immediate next marker is April 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Paris, when Christie’s tests whether those previewed headline lots can turn a carefully staged exhibition week into bids.
